Safe and Supportive Schools Conference (Virginia Department of Education, VDOE)

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), in partnership with the Virginia Center for School and Campus Safety (VCSCS) at the Department of Criminal Justice Services(DCJS), is announcing the Safe and Supportive Schools Conference to be held April 28-29, 2020, in Charlottesville, Virginia. The theme for the Conference is “Navigating the Landscape of School Safety.” Attendees will learn about data-informed and impactful practices that advance school safety through supportive, comprehensive, and preventative approaches.
The intended audience for this Conference is specialized instructional support personnel that provide mental health, social, and emotional support to Virginia students in K-12, including school counselors, school nurses, school psychologists, school social workers, and other student support professionals and administrators.
This free professional development opportunity is open to all Virginia school divisions. Participants are encouraged to register in division teams. Registration and additional information about this professional development event is available on the Safe and Supportive Schools registration webpage. Preregistration is required. Attendance is capped at 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
