There are four core components of the special education process that must be articulated for each individual child including the following elements:
- Child Find Process;
- Student Evaluation;
- IEP Process; and,
- IEP Monitoring and Implementation Process
This presentation will provide special education central office staff with user-friendly Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) documents, a District/Campus Checklist and a district internal audit guide to review the current effectiveness of these elements including what is working and what needs to be improved.
Learning Objectives
- Examine the role of special education leadership in the Child Find Process, Special Education Evaluation, IEP Process and IEP Monitoring and Implementation Process.
- Utilize tools to support special education leadership ensuring that systemic processes are in place to effectively implement IDEA regulations.
- Connect all six components of IDEA (FAPE, LRE, Procedural Safeguards IEPs, Appropriate Evaluation & Parent and Teacher Participation), and create an integral link to the implementation of all these processes.
