Leading the Way to Excellence in AT Services - A Leadership Book Study for School Administrators (VDOE's Assistive Technology Network) Registration is due by Feb. 17.

This is a completed event.

Description:

Register for Leading the Way to Excellence in AT Services Book Study -

Providing an education to all students requires a variety of professionals working together to support students. Technology is a critical component of all classrooms, and assistive technology (AT) is a necessary component of classrooms that are effective in supporting students with disabilities. Providing effective AT services in schools requires an administrator who can address it from each of these unique perspectives: leadership, management, supervision, advocacy, and program improvement.

If you are a school administrator who would like to learn more about supporting assistive technology services in your school(s), we would like to invite you to participate in a statewide study of the book, Leading the Way to Excellence in AT Services: A Guide for School Administrators, with peers from around the Commonwealth. A copy of this book will be provided to each participant.

This AT book study will be facilitated by members of VDOE's Assistive Technology Network, along with Dr. Penny Reed, one of the authors of this book. This activity will take place over three sessions from February to May 2023. Participants will be registered for all three sessions. This opportunity is designed for novices to experts in AT and will focus on how school administrators can empower staff and positively impact outcomes for students with disabilities using assistive technology through their daily management, supervision, and leadership roles.

Target Audience: This AT book study is designed for leaders and decision-makers of assistive technology services. This book study is the right fit if you are a school administrator (principal, assistant principal), an administrator participating in IEP meetings, or an individual providing management for AT personnel and resources, and if your individual roles and responsibilities include AT, you participate in funding decisions, and you have a role in establishing and supporting the school and division-wide AT policies and procedures.
