Save the Date! Social-Emotional Evaluation/Measure (SEAM) Training (Early Invention Providers only)

This is a completed event.

Description:

Virginia’s Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) Initiative is excited to offer a special training session this spring.  One representative from each system is invited to participate in a free full-day training to train early intervention providers to use the Social-Emotional Evaluation/Measure (SEAM™), a functional social-emotional assessment tool for children ages two months to five years. This seminar will focus on its use with children birth to age three and will provide opportunities for participants to practice using the SEAM in order to assess a child’s social-emotional development; identify and create functional goals; and plan for interventions in collaboration with parents and other practitioners. The training will be held on April 18th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Charlottesville.

Since the SEAM is designed to work in tandem with other screening instruments including the Ages & Stages Questionnaires: Social-Emotional (ASQ: SE2), the training will also provide a basic overview on how to use the ASQ:SE-2. The ASQ training is appropriate for those who are new users, those who are considering adopting the tool for use in their system, or for individuals in need of a refresher.

Registration will be open around the end of February.  Each local system will be able register one participant.  If you think that you will NOT use your system’s slot, please let Bonnie Grifa know (bgrifa@vcu.edu) as soon as possible.  There will begin a waiting list in the event local systems are interested in sending an additional representative.   For systems that require travel support, there is a very limited pool of funding to help support a limited number of participants.
