CLASS Training Opportunities: PreK CLASS Observer Training and PreK CLASS Train-the-Trainer Program

This is a completed event.

Description:

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is providing an opportunity to build your school division’s capacity for implementing local CLASS™ observations.  The CLASS™  trainings outlined below are  for individuals who will complete local observations in VPI classrooms.  Those who complete the training may also complete observations in ECSE classrooms. The VPI Coordinator needs to complete the registration process.

Opportunities for school division participants to attend CLASS™ training this fall include: 1) PreK CLASS™ Observer Training, and 2) PreK CLASS™ Train-the-Trainer Program.

PreK CLASS™ Observer Training

During this two-day training, participants will build an in-depth understanding of the CLASS™ observation methodology and prepare to reliably assess quality of teaching teacher-child interactions.  Participants will take an online reliability test after the training to become eligible to conduct local CLASS™ observations. Please note: Participants must attend both days of training to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion and to take the PreK reliability test.

This three-day training is for individuals who have completed the PreK CLASS™ Observer Training, passed the reliability test, and hold a current reliability certification. The purpose of this training is to build in-house CLASS™ experts by creating CLASS™ affiliate trainers who can train other staff on CLASS™ fundamentals and certify local observers. It is strongly recommended that participants have one year of experience observing and coding PreK classrooms using the CLASS™ tool prior to registering for this training. Please note: Participants must attend all three days of training to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion and to be an affiliate trainer.

There is not a registration or material fee for trainings. Meals are not provided.
