Description:

TThe Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) offered a three-part learning series titled, Providing Remote Instruction for Preschoolers with Disabilities: Coaching Parents and Building Partnerships.  It was targeted to early childhood and early childhood special education teachers, but would also be appropriate for administrators, related service personnel, and anyone else who may partner with families and implement coaching strategies to support learning. The series was led by Dana Childress, Ph.D., Early Intervention Professional Development Consultant. It focused on the Dathan Rush and M'Lisa Shelden coaching model. The goals were for participants to 1) gain an understanding of the purpose and value of coaching parents, 2) increase knowledge of the Rush and Shelden coaching model, and 3) implement the key characteristics of the coaching model. Participants were encouraged to complete readings and activities throughout the series that are designed to enhance learning and improve implementation.

The Learning Series Part 1 was recorded on Sept. 22, 2020.
