Description:

The “Itinerant Early Childhood Special Education (IECSE) Service Delivery Model for Administrators” is a three-part video series intended for administrators who want to learn more about the Itinerant Model for children with Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The Itinerant model is a service delivery model that supports the inclusion of young children with disabilities by delivering IEP services in a variety of preschool settings such as a private preschool, child care center, Virginia Preschool Initiative, Head Start, or the home. Itinerant teachers provide support by providing consultation and professional development to early childhood teachers as well as direct services to individual children. The Virginia Itinerant model uses the model outlined in A Guide to Itinerant Early Childhood Special Education Services where the Itinerant primarily focuses on consultation and coaching strategies designed to transfer specific knowledge and skills to the early childhood teacher who then implements them to the child, allowing for ongoing embedded instruction.
